The Henshin, rebuilt: a new site for our third year
We started in 2023 as a small project in Portugal. Today The Henshin gets the site it always wanted — a faster, cleaner home for reviews, features and photography.

The Henshin began in 2023 in Portugal as a small project: a place to write seriously about games without a publisher, an algorithm or a deadline dictating the angle. Three years later that project has grown past what the old site could carry, so we rebuilt it from the ground up.
What is new: a proper editorial front page that leads with the story of the day instead of a feed, a Reviews section with transparent scoring across graphics, gameplay, story, audio, performance and replay value, a weekly Spotlight dedicated to one independent game, a Gallery for virtual and real-world photography, and a Downloads page where we publish the small tools we build for our own testing.
What is not new: the standards. We disclose review keys, we do not run sponsored reviews, and we do not take payment for coverage. Over the years we have been trusted with keys by Xbox Game Studios, IO Interactive and others, and that trust only works if it buys nothing but a fair playthrough.
Along the way we have been at Lisbon Games Week 2023, served as jury members at Over & Out 2025 by Lusófona University, and attended DevGAMM Lisbon 2025 as official press and media. Those rooms are where most of our best stories start.
Everything on the site is now managed from our own newsroom tools, which means faster news, more frequent Spotlight picks, and a Gallery that actually gets updated. If you want to pitch, correct us or send a key, we are at press@thehenshin.com and hello@thehenshin.com. Our only social channel for now is YouTube, at @thehenshin.
“Same obsession, better foundations.”
