GOG announces the Galaxy launcher is coming to Linux
Fully independent since splitting from CD Projekt last December, GOG is finally bringing its DRM-free client to Linux — and by extension to handhelds.
GOG, which became an independent company after separating from CD Projekt last December, has confirmed that the Galaxy launcher will soon be fully available on Linux.
It is a change Linux users have asked for since Galaxy launched, and it matters more now than it would have five years ago: a native client puts GOG's DRM-free library one step from every Linux-based handheld on the market.
GOG says the Linux build will include the full library manager, cloud saves and its rollback feature for older builds. A beta is expected first, with no firm date attached yet.
The company's preservation programme, which recertifies older games against modern hardware, will be part of the release from day one.
