Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Cracks the Whip on Switch 2

The Switch 2's port parade added serious star power on May 12: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, MachineGames' acclaimed first-person adventure, is now available on Nintendo's new console — complete with both digital and physical editions.

The port was first revealed back in February's Nintendo Direct partner showcase, as part of an unusually aggressive Bethesda push: alongside Indy, the publisher confirmed Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered for the system. Bethesda going all-in on Switch 2 ports this early in the console's life was one of that Direct's clearest signals.

It's an easy game to recommend to a new audience. Released to heavy acclaim on Xbox and PC (and later PS5), The Great Circle is that rare licensed game that actually understands its source material — Indy as a thinking hero rather than just an action figure. The emphasis is on exploration, puzzles and improvisation, with combat that feels scrappy and physical instead of superhuman.

The Switch 2 version also lands at an interesting moment for third-party ports. Between this, Cyberpunk 2077 at the console's launch and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth arriving in June, the "can it run on Switch 2?" question has quietly become "when is your game coming to Switch 2?" — a complete inversion of the original Switch era, where big-budget ports often arrived late, compromised, or not at all.

For Nintendo players who've been fenced out of one of the best adventure games of the past few years: the wait is over. The whip works. The hat stays on. Fedora justice for all.
