Beyond the Zelda bombshell and Sora's city lights, Nintendo's June 9 Direct was stacked wall-to-wall — nearly an hour of dates, ports and reveals servicing a Switch 2 starting to become what Nintendo's fans always want year two to be: loaded. Here's the quick reference.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort — the spiritual successor to Wii Sports Resort — headlines the holiday slate on October 22, with an almost alarming sport list: skateboarding (driven by Joy-Con 2's mouse functionality), boxing, table tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, jump rope, archery, tennis, power cruising, prop playing... and thumb wrestling. Yes, thumb wrestling. Nintendo's wellness mission continues.
Xenoblade fans got a triple-hit: Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2 and 3 upgraded for Switch 2 (4K docked, 60fps, extra content rolling out across the year), followed by the genuine shocker — Xenoblade Genesis, a brand-new mainline saga entry for 2027. Monolith Soft is, apparently, never allowed to stop.
Elsewhere in the Direct's "imminent" basket: Star Fox (a retelling of 64) launches June 25 with a free demo live right now; Splatoon Raiders deploys July 23 with its own dedicated Direct on June 30; Rhythm Heaven Groove — 80+ rhythm games, co-op included — swings July 2; The Duskbloods gets a closed network test this summer; Minecraft Switch 2 Edition lands later in 2026 with world save carry-over; Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave confirmed for September 17; Metaphor: ReFantazio drops November 12; and Deltarune Chapter 5 was confirmed for a free June 24 launch.
Between ports (Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Stellar Blade, Lies of P, FFXIV) and an avalanche of smaller dates, Switch 2's second-year catalogue is entirely too real. Take heart, and take quarters.
